Step Ten
The tenth step the in The Autonomy Protocol.
“We kept a daily check on our habits and choices, and when we made a mistake, we owned it immediately to keep minor slip-ups from turning into major problems.”
The Five-Minute Clean Up
Think of the first nine steps like doing a massive, deep clean of a bedroom that has been a disaster for years. Now that your life is clear of that background chaos, you have a choice: wait for it to pile up again, or keep it clean daily. Step Ten is your daily maintenance. It is the habit of checking in with yourself every day to make sure your habits aren’t sliding backward.
Crushing the Drama Snowball
Most major high school disasters start as tiny mistakes. A small misunderstanding in a text group turns into a week of silent treatment; a missed assignment turns into a skipped class. When you practice owning your mistakes promptly, you kill the drama before it has a chance to breathe. If you catch yourself slipping up, you fix it right then and there.
Living Responsibly
Practicing a daily inventory keeps you firmly in the driver’s seat of your high school experience. You don’t have to live in fear of getting “caught” or falling behind, because you are constantly making small, honest adjustments every single day. This is how true, lasting autonomy is protected.
